ABOUT US
Vega Youth Center is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, based in Belgrade, Serbia. Vega was founded in December of 2000 by a few childhood friends, students of various faculties of Belgrade University. The current management board is comprised of graduates of anthropology, visual anthropology and architecture.

VISION
The main motive behind Vega’s establishment was to address the aspiration for change among Serbian youth in the atmosphere that was surrounding the art and cultural scene, thereby reflecting recent political events in the Western Balkans in general and Serbia in particular.

MISSION
The people of the Vega Youth Center are trying to :

• Provide projects which will enable creative socialization of the young, whether they engage in them, discuss them, or they are motivated to develop their own ideas and intellectual perspectives
• Raise social, cultural and ecological awareness among Serbian youth and assist them in increasing their understanding of the cultures that surround them
• Help expand the talents of youth through various programs
• Help Belgrade youth integrate into the international community by giving them the opportunity to communicate and meet with young people from all over the world through volunteer and exchange programs

GOALS
Establish a Visual Culture Research Center (VCRC) that

• will promote our mission through film screenings, visual productions and educational programs
• Create a space for cultural exchange that will improve young people’s access to information services and increase the participation of young people in the preparation and realisation of projects
• Encourage actions and provide possibilities of outdoor activities on ecological awareness, especially concerning the Danube river and its flora and fauna
• Provide information for the Youth In Action programme and other opportunities for active participation
